These Signs Indicate You’re Due for a Tire Change

The best time for a tire change is before your tires start to show the telltale signs of wear and age, as once they wear past a certain point, tires can become unsafe to drive on. If you notice any of these features on your tires, it’s time for a new set:

• Low Tread Depth: You might already know the penny trick, but if you don’t, head to your change jar and grab a penny. If you put the “top” of the heads side in the tread and it reaches Lincoln’s head, you should have at least 1/16 of an inch of tread and be okay to drive to our dealership for new tires. Anything less and a new set of tires is your top priority.
• Irregular Tread Wear: If you notice one side of your tires is more worn than others, you could be overdue for a rotation or have an alignment issue. Either way, you should consult a technician about whether new tires are in order.
• Side Wall Damage: If you notice and wear or damage to the sidewall of a tire, it indicates internal damage and needs to be replaced immediately. Worn sidewalls are some of the most common causes of blowouts, leading to loss of control of a vehicle and serious accidents.
