VSC off indicator
Push and hold the switch while the vehicle is stopped to turn off TRAC and VSC. The TRAC OFF indicator light and VSC off indicator light should come on. Push the switch again to turn the system back on.
Slip indicator
If the vehicle is in danger of slipping or if any of the drive wheels spins, the slip indicator light flashes to indicate that the VSC/TRAC systems are operating. Depending on the vehicle, a buzzer (intermittent) may sound to indicate that VSC is operating.
Security indicator
Vehicles with a smart key system:
The indicator light flashes after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned off to indicate that the system is operating. The indicator light stops flashing after the ENGINE START STOP switch has been turned to ACCESSORY or IGNITION ON mode to indicate that the system has been canceled.
Vehicles without a smart key system
The indicator light flashes after the key has been removed from the engine switch to indicate that the system is operating. The indicator light stops flashing after the registered key has been inserted into the engine switch to indicate that the system has been canceled.
Maintenance required reminder light
Indicates that maintenance is required according to the driven distance on the maintenance schedule.
Low washer fluid warning light
Indicates a low level of washer fluid.
Turn signal indicator
Indicates that the right or left turn signal has been activated.
TRAC OFF indicator
- To disable TRAC and/or VSC
If the vehicle gets stuck in fresh snow or mud, TRAC and VSC may reduce power from the engine to the wheels. You may need to turn the system off to enable you to rock the vehicle in order to free it.
- Turning off TRAC
Quickly push and release the switch to turn off TRAC. The TRAC OFF indicator light should come on. Push the switch again to turn the system back on.
Tire pressure warning light
Indicates low tire inflation pressure.
SRS warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
- The SRS airbag system;
- The front passenger occupant classification system; or
- The seatbelt pretensioner system.
SRS airbag on-off indicator
Your vehicle is equipped with a front passenger occupant classification system. This system detects the conditions of the front passenger seat and activates or deactivates the devices for front passenger. The AIR BAG ON or AIR BAG OFF light illuminates to keep the driver/front passenger advised of the system’s status.

Headlight indicator (U.S.A.)
Indicates that the side marker, parking, tail, license plate, instrument panel and headlights have been turned on.
Headlight high beam indicator
Indicates that the high beam headlights have been switched on.
ABS Warning Light
Indicates a malfunction in:
- ABS; or
- The Brake Assist system.
Charging System Warning Light
Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle's charging system.
Cruise control indicator*
Indicates that cruise control has been activated.
*If equipped.
Electric power steering warning light
Indicates a malfunction in the EPS system.

Toyota Dashboard Light Colors
The various symbols on your Toyota’s dashboard are color-coded, like a traffic light, in order to denote their seriousness if they ever appear.
Green-Colored Lights. These symbols alert you when a specific vehicle feature is in use, such as a turn signal or your vehicle’s cruise control system. Green dashboard lights are normal and shouldn’t cause you any alarm.
Yellow-Colored Lights. Yellow or “indicator” lights appear when either a non-emergency issue is detected or when an important vehicle feature is disabled. While usually not a sign of immediate danger, yellow indicator lights aren’t to be ignored and should be inspected by a licensed technician if they continue to appear.
Red-Colored Lights. Red “warning” lights appear when a serious malfunction is detected and needs immediate attention.
What to Do When a Toyota Warning Light Appears?
While driving, if you notice a red or a yellow light appear on your instrument panel, immediately search for a safe location to pull over and shut down your engine. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual is an excellent resource to help you identify any symbol you don’t easily recognize.
You should minimize driving on public roads to avoid further damage or an accident until the issue can be inspected by a licensed technician.
