Lane Departure Alert (with Steering Assist)

With the use of a specially designed camera, this system can monitor the visible painted markings that delineate traffic lanes. When the system senses the vehicle changing lanes without signaling, Lane Departure Alert provides audible and visual cues to notify the driver. These alerts come in the form of beeping sounds and a flashing light on the vehicle’s instrument panel, allowing drivers to correct their travel to avoid an incident. If the driver does not respond in a timely manner, the vehicle can correct itself, bring it back into the original lane of travel without driver input.

Pre-Collision System (with Pedestrian Protection)

Selected vehicles are equipped with a forward-facing camera and radar system that monitors the lane of traffic ahead of the vehicle. When the system senses a potential collision with another vehicle or road hazard, it provides drivers with audible and visual warnings in the form of loud beeping and flashing lights on the vehicle’s dash. If the driver does not respond in time, the vehicle can apply the brakes automatically in an effort to avoid or reduce the impact of a crash.

When the Pedestrian Detection system is activated, the radar system works with a camera designed to recognize specific shapes. If the system notes one of these shapes, such as a human, in front of the vehicle, it provides drivers with an audible and visual alert. If the driver fails to react, the vehicle can apply the brakes automatically, reducing the likelihood of a collision.

Automatic High-Beams

A special camera monitors the road ahead of the vehicle, looking for oncoming traffic, specifically its headlamps. When another vehicle is detected, the system automatically switches the vehicle’s high-beams to standard lighting to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. When the vehicle has passed, the system switches back to high beams, allowing drivers better visibility when driving at night and increasing safety.

Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Using the same radar system and forward facing camera employed by other safety systems, the Full-speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control scans the road directly ahead of the vehicle, monitoring for approaching obstacles such as road hazards and other vehicles. When a hazard is detected, the vehicle adjusts speed to avoid a collision. When traveling during heavy traffic, the system can maintain a safe following distance by following driver presets, reducing speed when traffic is dense, and accelerating to previous speeds when the road’s clear. Unlike previous versions of radar cruise control, this system has the capability to operate at speeds between 0-110 miles per hour.
